Mitt Romney, a very decent and likeable fellow, stepped aside today and thus gave up his run for the presidency. To me, he was, without a doubt, the most kindred and like-minded spirit in the race. It is a great disappointment to me that the nation has chosen instead to put their faith in others not as qualified, ready and able to solve the very serious problems we face. If change is what is needed, McCain certainly does not inspire. On the Democrat side, blindly rolling the dice and hoping for the best is not sound decision-making by any stretch of the imagination. Hoping to shed some weird notion of a national sense of guilt by putting a woman or a person of color into the oval office just because it would be a first and way overdue, is certainly not sound judgment. Both Obama and Clinton are but empty suits, er in Clinton's case, a pantsuit. If one imagined this race for the presidency as a genuine competitive business job search, neither would be considered an appropriate prospect based on their qualifications.
The USA is a large and unwieldy organization which needs someone with suitable experience to run it efficiently. Besides Rudy, who has already quit the race,no one else in the field of candidates even comes close to possessing Mitt’s experience in management and succesful decision-making abilities.
So what will we ultimately get?
Most likely, we will get an idealist who has never run anything and will appoint others and thus divorce him/herself from those vital responsibilities. Their decision-making process will be based on how persuasive those stand-ins who hover around the oval office are. Final decisions will result from vacuous “sales pitches” instead of being backed by solid experience in the matter at hand.
