Mitt Romney, a very decent and likeable fellow, stepped aside today and thus gave up his run for the presidency. To me, he was, without a doubt, the most kindred and like-minded spirit in the race. It is a great disappointment to me that the nation has chosen instead to put their faith in others not as qualified, ready and able to solve the very serious problems we face. If change is what is needed, McCain certainly does not inspire. On the Democrat side, blindly rolling the dice and hoping for the best is not sound decision-making by any stretch of the imagination. Hoping to shed some weird notion of a national sense of guilt by putting a woman or a person of color into the oval office just because it would be a first and way overdue, is certainly not sound judgment. Both Obama and Clinton are but empty suits, er in Clinton's case, a pantsuit. If one imagined this race for the presidency as a genuine competitive business job search, neither would be considered an appropriate prospect based on their qualifications.
The USA is a large and unwieldy organization which needs someone with suitable experience to run it efficiently. Besides Rudy, who has already quit the race,no one else in the field of candidates even comes close to possessing Mitt’s experience in management and succesful decision-making abilities.
So what will we ultimately get?
Most likely, we will get an idealist who has never run anything and will appoint others and thus divorce him/herself from those vital responsibilities. Their decision-making process will be based on how persuasive those stand-ins who hover around the oval office are. Final decisions will result from vacuous “sales pitches” instead of being backed by solid experience in the matter at hand.

The race was over before it began. I was never a Romney person and you could check my site for posts about anti-Mormon hysteria. There were reasons not to vote for Romney but religious hatred is not one of them.

the war criminal Trotsky. It would seem Poles have a different view of your messiah. My granfather was an expert at applied social justice in defense of Poland from invaders led by a war criminal you admire as a savior.

The only qualified and acceptable candidate in this entire race was Dennis Kucinich. But America isn't ready for an intelligent leader, I guess.
As for Romney, I don't think I could ever take a man seriously who bought into Mormonism. He should have been made to feel the nation's incredulity for his religion. Then again, I wish I could make EVERY candidate feel my incredulity towards their respective religions. Even Kucinich.
Looks like I'll be voting for Nader again.

You have hit the nail on the head. Trust is everything in politics. Mitt just looked too much like a slick corporate executive and it turned off many of the blue collar crowd.
He should have taken a page out of the Bush playbook and worn jeans, boots and checked shirts more often.

Sounds like your grandfather was part of the force that defeated the invading red army back in the twenties. In reading about the final battles and the last massive cavalry charge which routed the numerically superior red army force, this was an epic battle which stopped the communist advance into Europe proper and dealt it a devestating blow setting its aggenda back many years. If it was'nt for WWII, these battles would have gotten way more press. Unfortunately, these early sacrifices were overshadowed by the events that followed shortly thereafter.

Kucinich may be intelligent but it's what he does with that intelligence that makes all the difference.
He once told an interviewer that while visiting with Shirley Maclain, the actress, at her hideaway in the Northwest, he stepped out on her porch and saw a UFO hovering above. This stretches even my capacity of gullibility to the breaking point.
While Romney may have been born into the Mormon faith and I acknowledge that some aspects of that religion may sound a bit whacky but then so did Christianity in circa 200 AD with the concept of father, son and holy ghost aka the trinity. Mitt seems to have his feet firmly planted in the every-day realities of life. He has overwhelming support here in Massachusetts because he proved his mettle as our governor. In a state that has a majority far-left liberal Democrat base that borders on communism, he was able to govern effectively with his superior give-and-take management style and even get a few conservative measures passed by an often hostile legislature.
IMHO, anarchists like to have a clean sweep of what they feel is an undesirable form of government. This is only possible as an exercise of the mind and has very little chance of success in today's world. Why anyone would pursue such a course and think it feasable is a mystery to me.

The Democrats are going to have a divided convention and they will have a hard time pulling together.If the Clinton's were not so egomaniacal a deal could be made.
I think Beatroot keeps his influences private. It took me awhile to figure them out.
Trotsky opposed and argued with Lenin related to invading Poland. Read Trotsky's biography, there is a chapter.
